Any of you experienced people know what this might be,

so there’s a little brown dot marker in the upper right of my screen, that I think wasn’t there before, like some kind of graphical notation? … I’d post a screenshot, but not allowed. could be anything I guess, just wondering if some of you more experienced players might know offhand.

The new Forums use Trust Levels.

TRUST LEVEL INFO HERE

If you lack the ability to directly post links or images (requires Trust Level 3), then highlight your URL and click the </> icon above where you are typing.

That will allow the whole URL to be posted (albeit without the ability to click it directly). It will look similar to this:

www.worldofwarcraft.com

Then anyone wanting to visit the link can merely copy/paste your link.

Are you on a Mac recently updated to Monterey and using voice chat? This is an obnoxious “security” feature added in the latest OS so people are aware they are being broadcast via voice. It appears when I’m on Discord voice chat or using a sound control application or streaming. It is visible as an overlay in full screen apps, even when the menu bar isn’t present. The dot will be green if you’re using the camera. Professionals who present content are very annoyed by it and although there was a workaround at one time, Apple has made it much more complex to remove by third party assistance, as you have to disable some security features on your machine now to do so.

fascinating. you nailed it.

I can’t say I’m opposed to teh dot indicator. It’s a nice idea. Very nice focus, with how many security compromises there have been.

But I can see how it could be a problem for professional content.

(and also, ty for this trust level infformation, it may come in handy)
