Key features of this health insurance plan

Health care select 1 provides extensive cover whether you need eligible day-patient treatment, overnight hospital care or a consultant appointment. Other features include cover for:

  • diagnostics – to help your doctor work out what’s wrong and recommend treatment options
  • up to £1,000 a year for out-patient therapies# - including physiotherapy
  • complementary medicine up to £250 per membership year#
  • psychiatric treatment after two years’ membership 1

Consultants' / specialists' fees Hide

In selected national or local access hospitals. Bupa benefit limits apply if the consultant isn’t a Bupa partnership consultant.

In selected national or local access hospitals.

Radiotherapy / chemotherapy Hide

In a selected national or local access hospital or, for certain conditions, a Bupa specialist treatment centre. Benefit limits apply if the consultant oncologist isn’t a Bupa partnership consultant.

Psychiatric treatment1 Hide

After two years’ continuous membership of a Bupa scheme offering psychiatric cover, by a Bupa recognised consultant in a Bupa recognised psychiatric hospital (national or local access). Claims should be authorised by Bupa before treatment begins.

Up to a maximum of 45 days per year

Out-patient treatment

Consultations with a consultant or specialist Hide

With a Bupa recognised consultant.

Diagnostic tests Hide

MRI, CT and PET scans in a Bupa recognised out-patient diagnostic imaging centre.

Radiotherapy / chemotherapy Hide

In a national or local access hospital or, for certain conditions, a Bupa specialist treatment centre. Benefit limits apply if the consultant oncologist isn’t a Bupa partnership consultant.

Physiotherapy (and other therapies) Hide

On GP or Bupa recognised consultant referral to a Bupa recognised therapist. This is the combined overall benefit limit for all therapies.

Psychiatric treatment1 Hide

By a Bupa recognised consultant in a selected psychiatric hospital and only after two years’ continuous membership of a Bupa scheme offering psychiatric cover. Claims should be authorised by Bupa before treatment begins.

Additional benefits

Private ambulance Hide

We cover travel by private road ambulance when it is medically necessary for you to travel by ambulance to receive eligible day-patient or in-patient treatment.
 

Up to £60 per trip
Parent accommodation when staying with a child Hide

Child under 12 receiving eligible private in-patient treatment. Applies to one parent only.

Complementary medicine Hide

On GP or Bupa recognised consultant referral, with a Bupa recognised complementary medicine practitioner.
