Reports to Congress

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 charges the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) with making an annual report to Congress that identifies gaps in the evidence base for clinical preventive services and recommends priority areas that deserve further examination.

The Task Force hopes that by annually highlighting high-priority evidence gaps, as requested by Congress, it will assist public and private researchers and research funders in targeting their efforts, ensuring a collaborative approach to improving preventive health and health care for all Americans.

U.S. Preventive Services Task Force - Annual Reports

	In 2015, the Task Force's “Fifth Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services” prioritizes evidence gaps related to women's health. Research in these areas would generate much needed evidence for important new recommendations to improve the health and health care of women in the United States.
	In 2014, the Task Force's “Fourth Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services” identified evidence gaps gaps related to the care of children and adolescents. More research in these areas would result in important new knowledge that may improve the health and health care of young Americans, with lasting benefits through adulthood.
	In 2013, the Task Force's “Third Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services” identified evidence gaps related to the care of older adults. More research in these areas would likely result in new recommendations that will help improve the health and health care of older Americans.
	In 2012, the Task Force's “Second Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services” identified specific topics from its past year of work as having important evidence gaps that may be addressed through research. More research in these areas would likely result in important new recommendations that will help to improve the health of Americans.
	In its “First Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services,” the Task Force identified four screening tests and three behavioral interventions with significant evidence gaps deserving further research.

Community Preventive Services Task Force

	Complementing the work of the USPSTF, preventive services at the community level are addressed by the Community Preventive Services Task Force, which also issues an annual report to Congress.
