Cabbage Stew | pork meat, dinner, recipe | Recipe: https://www.flavcity.com/braised-cabbage-pork Rose & I made baba's cabbage and pork stew for dinner. | By BobbyParrish | It's time for dinner friends. Rosie and I are making Baba Donnie's famous braised cabbage and pork. It's perfect on a cold winter day and we're getting started right now. This is a three and a half pound pork butt. So Rose and I are going to cut it into large cubes. I like to brown the pork first. It adds a little extra work to the recipe but it adds a lot more flavor. Last one. Hold on. Rose is on dish washing duty. We're going to get the pork ready for the hot pan with some avocado oil, a good pinch of salt, some pepper, give it a good mix up. 4 39 is perfect with my infrared gun. Little bit of avocado oil in the pan. Half the pork in the pan. If I put all the pork, you're going to crowd the pan. You're going to drop the temperature too much. You're not going to get a nice deep brown here. One more thing you don't want to forget, Thank you, Rose. The splatter here. We're going to slice up one large head of green cabbage here. Baba Danny says the key to this Rosie is to slice the cabbage really thin. Alright, let's check that pork. The first batch of pork is thoroughly browned on each side. Let's get this batch out and we'll put the second batch in. Pork is browned off quite nice. How's that look, Rosie? Good. Right? Is that hot? It's hot. So, we're going to push that to the side. This is the interactive part of the recipe. We're going to take some of that cabbage. Can you put it in the pot for dinner roast? Scoop some of the tomatoes in there. Okay. We're going to smash the cabbage and the tomatoes together. A couple teaspoons of unrefined salt and all of the pork and juices and we'll just tuck the pork throughout the Dutch oven here. Pot is locked and loaded. We'll put the heat on high, bring it to a boil, reduce it to a simmer, throw the lid on, and cook it for about 45 minutes. In the meantime, I love the way my FlavCity enameled cast iron pan browns meat. It's beauto because the walls are double thick and it just retains that heat so lovely. It's part of the FlavCity Cookware Set. That pan seventy bucks with a lifetime warranty and it's non toxic or you can get the entire nineteen-piece cookware set for four ninety-nine. Check it out at FlavCity Cookware. com. Folks are loving it. The forty-five-minute timer just went off. Take a look in the pot. You're looking for a lot of the liquid to have evaporated here and that's exactly what happened. Oven's preheating at four twenty-five we're going to transfer this in there but first we gotta put some herbs if you haven't seen my herb hack this parsley in this dill is two weeks old the way to extend that life is when you get home from the grocery store wash it dry it cut about an inch off the stems and then put it into a glass or a mason jar with some water put the plastic bag from the grocery store back over the top try to change the water every three or four days it will last you an insanely long time and it's a good money saving tip we need 1/ 2 cup total of the parsley in the dill add it to the pot give it a good up. I'm going to transfer this to a nine by 12 baking dish. Smooth it out. This is my favorite part. When I saw Baba Danny do it the first time, I was really wowed. In this pot is a/ 4 cup of ghee. You can also use butter. It is smoking hot right now and then drizzle it on the top and you get a sizzler effect. Pork ghee tomatoes cabbage proper just in case we get an overflow I'm going to put my baking dish on a ceramic sheet tray and we'll pop this in the oven for 30 minutes let's take a look at the cabbage it's looking good I'm going to turn the heat down to 350 and bake it for another 30 minutes it looks amazing I'm going to pull it and let it rest for about 20 minutes it's time to dig in but these pieces right here where the pork is nice and crusty and brown are my favorite and garnish with a little bit fresh parsley. And what's going to be the perfect bite here? Wow, Babadani will be very proud. The cabbage is cooked so long that it's literally silky in my mouth. It just falls apart and you get that nice texture from the pork and it's cooked down and has so much flavor. You guys, I'm going to type up this recipe. Put it in the post. Make this. You will love it.
