solidworks drawing file loaded with grabcad does not open solid model only square box model model appears
You uploaded SW 2023 file and probably GC 3D engine did not have proper tools for now to open it
yes i am using solidworks version 2023 old versions did not have this problem
GrabCAD will usually not render the latest version of Solidworks. The file is there. It is available for download. It just won’t render.
The same thing happens for many other file types.
In all cases it is best to upload your own rendered image of the model and make that the first image in the gallery. Even if GrabCAD will ultimately render a CAD file, it may take days for it to happen.
Again, your file is on GrabCAD. It just didn’t get rendered.
Don't hold your breath for this to happen. It is now 5 months since GrabCAD promised that the viewer would be updated 'soon', refer to:
I think, that IF the viewer is eventually updated, we will have the exact same problem with Solidworks 2024, which will be released in a short time. The GrabCAD community has clearly been put on the backburner and doesn't receive much attention, or funds, any more.
Until GrabCAD updates their third party imaging renderer you can save your Solidworks part file as a .STEP and then upload to GrabCAD and the image renderer will work. As a side note .STEP files can be downloaded and used on other CAD software suites.
.STEP would be better suited for GRABCAD. Include the SW native files in the download, but provide something "non-SW" for the rest of the CAD bubble. Set this file for display, or render an image, shrug. Direct model editing is a thing so having the original SolidWorks History Tree isn't always preferred. Provide both formats, IMHO, or multiple formats.
If you use SolidWorks Virtual assembly or virtual component features they most likely will not translate to other CAD platforms. This is also a benefit of saving off a .step or .igs, .x_t, etc.. Just an additional FYI.
Yea, I've had issues with SW 2022 uploading files such that they can be rendered. I go back and upload a step file. This has been an issue since we went to 2022. Glad to see it still doesn't work and were almost into 2024.
