One of the most prestigious racecourses in the country, Goodwood hosts numerous top-class Flat races throughout the summer months.

These are among the most important in the racing calendar.

It also has the scenic backdrop of the South Downs and is able to offer customers superb facilities, making it an excellent all-round venue for thoroughbred racing.

The track is right-handed and slightly undulating. Winning times, particularly in the sprints, are generally fast due to the carpet-like turf. There are few poor races staged at Goodwood but the highlight is 'Glorious Goodwood', a festival to match any in the world.

Major races include The Goodwood Cup over 2 miles, the Richmond Stakes over six furlongs, and the William Hill Mile.

However, the top event of the week is the Sussex Stakes, one of the top mile contests in the European Pattern Race calendar.
